Molding shop
All individual parts that cannot be molded on turntables are cast by hand. For this purpose, the so-called "slip", the liquefied porcelain mass, is filled into plaster molds. These remove the water from the slip, thus compacting it to form the body. Many Nymphenburg place settings and figurines consist of numerous individual parts - some figurine groups of up to 100, complicated objects - such as the Frankenthal chandelier - can even comprise over 20,000 individual parts. These are individually cast, dried and carefully assembled in the bossierstube according to the original patterns. Leaves, blossoms, garlands and other ornaments are modeled freehand and individually annealed to hedges, trees or figures with a scalpel.
