Eugen Napoleon Neureuther
The Munich native Eugen Napoleon Neureuther, born on January 13, 1806, received his training at the Munich Art Academy, where he worked with Peter von Cornelius on the paintings in the Munich Glyptothek. After time in Paris and Rome, he took over the inspection and artistic direction of the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg from 1848 to 1856. During this time of maximum productivity, he designed around 400 different dinnerware items and vessels for the manufactory. Neureuthers designs in the style of historicism cite motifs and ornaments of the Gothic. Its basic aesthetic element is the arabesque. In Neureuther's work it becomes the link between various narrative motifs.
