Description
Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg owes one of its most important services of the 20th century to the architect and designer Wolfgang von Wersin. Styled along the lines of the “New Objectivity” movement , Wersin designed the Adonis form for Nymphenburg, which remains one of the manufactory's most beautiful to this day. The light refracts in the fine grooved relief of the surface and makes the shards appear almost transparent in the play of shadows. The simplicity of the structure of the timelessly modern form is emphasized by minimal painting. Designed in 1932 as a coffee service, Adonis was also included in the repertoire of the master workshops as a dining service in 1951/56. Designed with a matte biscuit edge or with a glazed edge; painted entirely in white or with a fine jagged decor in black or 24-carat fine gold, Adonis embodies elegance to this day.
