Franz Anton Bustelli
No one shaped the artistic direction of Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg more than Franz Anton Bustelli. On November 3, 1754, the sculptor joined Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg as a figurist - only shortly after Joseph Jakob Ringler had succeeded in producing porcelain there for the first time. Within a very short time, he became the model master of the manufactory and helped it to achieve world fame with his elaborate Rococo designs. Bustelli worked at Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg until his death in 1763, leaving behind around 150 new designs after a creative period of almost nine years. Among his most outstanding figures, still produced today, are the 16 characters of the COMMEDIA DELL' ARTE.
